The term cataract refers to a cloudy lens within the eye. When a cataract is removed, an artificial lens is placed inside the eye to take the place of the human lens that has become the cataract.
Signals that cataracts may be forming:
- Vision becomes cloudy
- Colors are not as vivid
- Glare of oncoming headlights when driving at night
- You may experience double vision
- General change in your prescription

Since they are a progressive, painless clouding of the natural, internal lens of the eye, they can sneak up on you. You think your eye sight is fine but upon examination you find it has deteriorated.
